General Information
My services range from quick check-ins and individual walks, hourly day care to full 24 hour care. You can find a list of my services with descriptions and price here.
I get the most requests for dogs and cats. I also have experience caring for birds, small pets (like rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and hamsters), horses and donkeys as well as farm animals. I have yet to care for reptiles – I am eager to have more experience there!
I am based in Caldas da Rainha and primarily serve the surrounding region. However, I am open to offering services across Portugal with special arrangements. If you’re located outside the region, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss a personalised plan that suits your needs.

I am flexible and happy to accommodate last minute requests when I am able, but to increase the possibility of me being available, I do recommend you contact me well in advance for arrangements and booking.
I always offer a complimentary meet-and-greet before any booking. This allows us to get to know each other and ensure the best possible care for your pet, free of charge!

Safety and Security
I have liability insurance that covers me while working as a pet sitter. However, it doesn’t cover damage or injury caused by your pet. In Portugal, pet-related coverage is generally limited, so I recommend checking your homeowner’s insurance to ensure you’re protected.
In an emergency, your pet’s safety is my top priority. I’ll assess the situation and, if necessary, take your pet to the nearest vet or emergency clinic, keeping you updated. If I can’t reach you, I’ll use the emergency contact details you provide and follow any specific instructions you’ve given for handling such situations.
Yes, I take home security very seriously. I ensure that your home is securely locked after each visit and follow any specific instructions you provide to keep your property safe.
Pet Care Specifics
I have some experience in administering various medications to a list of animals. I am happy to receive instructions from you and make sure it gets done on schedule and in the right manner.
Please provide everything your pet needs for their daily routine, like food, treats, toys, bedding and any medications. If your pet has special requirements, let me know in advance and provide the necessary items. Additionally, I’ll need access to your pet’s documentation and medical history in case of an emergency, so I can ensure their well-being during my visit.

Communication
I provide updates as per your request. I am always happy to share any fun and shenanigans we get up to in your absence, as well as any and all necessary updates during my stay. My most common ways to stay in touch are via phone, email or direct messaging like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Cancellations and Refunds
I understand that circumstances can change, and either party may need to terminate the service agreement. To ensure flexibility while maintaining my schedule, I’ve established the following cancellation policy.
For Short Visits (e.g., Check-ins, Dog Walking, Day Care, Overnight Stays): A minimum of 24-hour notice is required. If cancellation occurs less than 24 hours before the scheduled date, 100% of the total booking amount will be charged.
For Long Stays (e.g., Multi-Day Stays, Full Day Care):
14 Days or More Notice: No cancellation fee will be charged.
7 to 13 Days Notice: 50% of the total booking amount will be charged.
Less Than 7 Days Notice: 100% of the total booking amount will be charged.
How to Cancel: Please make cancellations via text or phone to ensure clear communication and documentation.
If you return home earlier than planned, please notify me as soon as possible and I will adjust accordingly. Please note that while I will do my best to accommodate changes, refunds for unused visits may not be available depending on the notice given and the terms of the agreement.
My priority is to ensure your pet’s care is uninterrupted, so timely communication helps ensure a smooth transition back to your routine.
Special Considerations
Yes. I have experience working with elderly pets, those with behavioral issues, and animals with special dietary requirements. I’m comfortable caring for pets with various conditions, provided I receive clear instructions from you. My background with shelter animals has equipped me to handle diverse needs with patience and care, ensuring your pet receives the attention and support they require.
If your pet has separation anxiety, I’ll provide extra comfort and reassurance during my visits. I’ll follow any specific routines or calming techniques you suggest to help ease their anxiety. This might include providing extra playtime, using soothing toys or maintaining a consistent schedule to create a sense of stability. I’m experienced in handling pets with behavioural challenges and will do my best to ensure your pet feels secure and cared for in your absence.
Preparation and Expectations
It’s important for me to understand your pet’s feeding schedule, dietary needs, medical history and behavioural quirks to provide the best care. I provide a form for you to fill out before the sit to ensure I have all the necessary details. Additionally, during our meet-and-greet, I’d like to review this information in person, as this helps me better understand your pet’s needs and ensures I’m fully prepared.
You don’t need to make major changes. Just ensure your pet’s food, water and medications are easily accessible and secure any potential hazards. If you could provide a comfortable place for me to sleep, that would be great! I also need a key or security code for easy access to your home, which I will handle carefully to maintain the security of your property.

Since 2010, I’ve gained extensive experience working with animals in various roles, including daycare/boarding, and volunteering at shelters. After a break from the field, I’m pleased to have returned to pet sitting in 2024, bringing my experience and dedication to caring for your pets. I’m also committed to continuous improvement and regularly take courses to further my knowledge and skills in animal care.
Legal and Liability
Yes, I offer a service agreement before I begin pet sitting. This agreement outlines the terms and conditions of my services, including the care provided for your pet, payment terms, cancellation policies, and other important details. Additionally, during the Meet & Greet, when needed I ask that you fill out a Pet Sitters Note form. This form helps ensure I have all the necessary information about your pet’s routine, preferences, and any special instructions to provide the best care possible. These steps are designed to give you peace of mind, ensuring clarity on expectations and protecting both your pet and home while you’re away.
While I strive to create a safe environment when caring for your pet, as the pet owner, you are responsible for any damage or injury your pet may cause. I do carry liability insurance for my work, but I recommend reviewing your homeowner’s policy to ensure it includes protection for pet-related incidents.
